Open Food Facts
A massive portion of our product barcode data, taxonomies, and Eco-Score formulas are sourced from the Open Food Facts project, a collaborative, free, and open database of food products from around the world.

Our "Tier-2" fallback image processing and OCR pipeline is powered by a multi-modal AI router utilizing Google's Gemini Vision APIs, Meta's Llama 3.2 Vision (via Cloudflare Workers AI), and NVIDIA's Nemotron models (via OpenRouter). Nutri-Score
The Nutri-Score logo and calculation system are the intellectual property of Santé Publique France (the French Public Health Agency). UnwrapTruth uses the Nutri-Score algorithm for informational and educational purposes.

The NOVA food classification system was developed by researchers at the University of São Paulo. Our NOVA processing heuristic is inspired by their classification guidelines.
